Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan considers that 9% industrial growth registered in 2010 is not an indicator one should be satisfied with, adding 2011 must be a year of serious results.

Speaking at a conference on economic policy priorities in Yerevan, President Sargsyan said he expects growth in construction as well, as the basis for significant growth is created in this field. “Urban Development Minister and the Minister of Transport and Communications should accelerate the programs. We should consider whether the introduced changes for granting licenses and permissions are of benefit,” the President stressed.

He recalled many licenses were abolished during the recent government sittings, adding that public, especially those working in construction field, must be aware of these changes.  

National programs must be like a locomotive. Despite the fact the programs are launched poor results are achieved. Urban Development Minister and the Minister of Transport and Communications should spare no effort for the results to become tangible. Prolongation or failure of programs will not be justified.
