Turkish Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan said any NATO military operation in Libya will be unhelpful and fraught with risk, Al Arabiya channel reported.

Speaking at a conference in Istanbul Premier Erdogan stressed many examples show that “foreign interventions, especially military interventions, only deepen the problem”.

“Therefore we see a NATO military intervention in another country as extremely unbeneficial and, moreover, are concerned that it could create dangerous results,” the channel quotes Turkish Premier.

As Armenian News-NEWS.am reported earlier, a wave of unrest continues in Libya since February. The demonstrators protest against leader Muammar Gaddafi who has been in power for more than 40 years. Gaddafi’s opponents seized many cities in the eastern part of the country. Clashes between rebels and pro-Gaddafi forces continue.

The UN imposed sanctions against Libya after reports saying peaceful protests were violently suppressed in the country.
