Iranian border guards detained seven fishing vessels in the Gulf of Oman, Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a statement published on Wednesday.

Seven fishing vessels, with 24 foreigners in a crew, were detained by the IRGC on Tuesday due to non-observance of the permitted distance from the coast for fishing, the Fars news agency quoted the IRGC as saying.

The report notes that the incident occurred in the area of the port of Jask, TASS said.

IRNA reported on August 19 that the UK’s Stena Impero tanker was detained in the Strait of Hormuz after turning off the receiver of the automatic recognition system and did not respond to warnings from the IRGC.

According to the hull, the tanker was detained in connection with a violation of international rules and escorted to shore for inspection. The head of the company said that the team consists of 23 people from India, Lithuania, Russia, and the Philippines.
