A high-ranking US official has ruled out the opportunity of lifting sanctions on Iran due to France’s offer to give a $15 billion-dollar loan to the country, reports AFP.

The official added that he still hasn’t been previewed to the “specific” offer of France and can’t comment on it. He also informed that the US government intends to set new sanctions on Iran and isn’t planning on lifting them.

In an attempt to weaken the growing tension in the Persian Gulf, President of France Emmanuel Macron announced about the possibility of organizing the meeting of the US and Iranian presidents.
