Southern regions of Armenia will not suffer serious consequences in case an 8 magnitude earthquake hits Iran, specifically Tehran. Talking to Armenian News-NEWS.am, Ashkhen Tovmasyan, expert from the Armenian National Seismic Protection Service, commented on forecasts of the Kuwaiti experts who claim major earthquake will strike Iran in the near future.

“Kuwait has never been famous for its seismic forecasts therefore we do not trust much their predictions. I believe they are not worth discussing. Even if we imagine that, nevertheless, an earthquake will happen near Tehran, the southern regions of Armenia will not suffer serious consequences, as they are located too far,” said the seismologist.

The Kuwaiti experts stated that a major earthquake will be registered not far from Tehran in the near future. The quake may cause tsunami which will hit the Persian Gulf states.
