On March 31, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan hosted an official dinner in honor of the President of Switzerland Micheline Calmy-Rey.

“Armenia seeks to deepen economic relations with the Swiss Confederation and intensify cultural exchanges. The cooperation both in bilateral and multilateral formats is of great importance,” Serzh Sargsyan said, thanking Switzerland for recognition of the Armenian Genocide.

The Swiss President stressed they touched upon the excellent relations between Switzerland and Armenia at the meeting with his Armenian counterpart. “There is large Armenian community in Switzerland and Swiss people have great affection towards Armenian people,” she noted.

Micheline Calmy-Rey also congratulated Armenia on acquiring a status of honorary guest at International Book Fair in Geneva. She stressed it will give opportunity to Armenian writers and publishers to present their works to the public.

The Swiss President emphasized that it will be a great honor to her if the Armenian President accepts her invitation to pay an official visit to Switzerland in early May.
