Report of the OSCE field assessment mission in fact refuted misinformation spread by the Azerbaijani side, said Armenian official. The Azerbaijani propaganda says territories surrounding Nagorno-Karabakh are allegedly used as drug trafficking routes, places where nuclear waste is stored and terrorist camps are located.

 “In fact the territory is controlled by the authorities, there is a regular army,” Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister Shavarsh Kocharyan said in an interview with Armenia’s public television. Unlike Azerbaijan, the army of which consisted of 2,000 militants from international terrorist centers, Nagorno-Karabakh gained victory with the help of regular army and volunteers, he said.    

Commenting on Azerbaijan’s acts of sabotage and ceasefire violations, Kocharyan stressed Azerbaijan is isolating itself by these moves. They make fuss but later hamper investigation, he said bringing an example of alleged killing of an Azerbaijani child. “It was impossible for the sniper to fire from the Armenian positions. There is a great distance and positions are located so that it is impossible to fire. It is no coincidence that Azerbaijani side did its utmost for this incident and many others not to be investigated. If investigated truth will come out,” he added.

The Armenian official stressed this resembles Khojalu. Azerbaijanis organized massacres of their own population in a district which was too far from the zone controlled by the Karabakh army. They have been trumpeting the story since then. “Whenever Azerbaijan makes fuss and hampers investigation, it isolates itself and opposes the international community,” Kocharyan said.

“It is no coincidence that Azerbaijan feels offended by mediators, Minsk Group and neighbors,” he concluded.
