U.S. President Barack Obama plans to start electioneering on April 5. However, it is not yet clear when he is going to meet representatives of the Armenian community, Armenian National Committee of America (ANCA) Communications Director Elizabeth Chouldjian told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

"Although no particular date has yet been fixed, we are ready to meet him any moment and discuss the issues related to Armenia, Nagorno-Karabakh and the Armenian Genocide we are concerned over," Ms. Chouldjian said. The U.S. President has to exert much effort to win the sympathies of the Armenian community. He has to do much to get the votes of the U.S. Armenians. President Obama failed to keep his promise to recognize the Armenian Genocide he made before being elected President. Rather, he opposed the U.S. Congress resolution on the Armenian Genocide, which enables the Turkish Government to distort the historical truth. Moreover, Turkey links Armenian-Turkish reconciliation to the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. During his election campaign, the U.S. President must make explicit changes to his position. Anyway, the ball is at his feet. Hopefully, President Obama will keep his own promise and deserve the Armenian community`s votes, Ms. Chouldjian said.

As to guarantees of President Obama keeping his election pledges this time, Chouldjian said that the Armenian community`s votes are the guarantee.

At their meeting with the U.S. President, Armenians will raise the issues of Armenian-Turkish reconciliation, U.S. aid to Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh.
