Gladys Berejiklian has been appointed Transport Minister of New South Wales, Australia’s largest state.
She is the first Armenian to serve as a Minister in an Australian state government, reports Armenia Online.
The Liberal and National Coalition won the recent New South Wales State Election under the guidance of leader Barry O’Farrell, who considers Berejiklian a key component of his team.
“Gladys’ most recent achievement is a source of pride for our community. We wish her the very best in her new role and look forward to continuing to work with her to advance the issues that concern Armenian-Australians,” said Varant Meguerditchian, Executive Director of the Armenian National Committee of Australia.
