The delegation led by Human Rights Commissioner of the Russian Federation Tatyana Moskalkova today paid a visit to the Russian military base in Gyumri.

As reported the press service of the Southern Military District of Russia, at the military garrison in Gyumri, the guests were greeted by the command of the Russian military formation, as well as representatives of the power structures of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Armenia, the Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Gyumri and the Russian Center for Science and Education.

Commander of the Russian military base, Colonel Nikolai Martynyuk introduced the Human Rights Commissioner of the Russian Federation to the history, structure and activities of the military formation, the modern military equipment and more. Afterwards, the delegates were introduced to the life and daily activities of the servicemen of the “Big Castle” military city. They visited the “Hill of Honor” and “Military Glory” memorial complexes, a museum of the military and the Cathedral of Queen Alexandra and laid flowers at the monuments to Soviet soldiers and two-time hero of the Soviet Union, Lieutenant-General Mikhail Kalashnikov.
