In essence, the Ministry of Healthcare of Armenia hasn’t made any change and hasn’t refused the points that were presented until then and concerned the profile-based parliamentary committee. This is what deputy of the ruling My Step Alliance of the National Assembly Kristine Poghosyan said during a discussion on the bill on introducing supplements to the Law “On drugs” in the second reading today, considering the ministry’s line of conduct inacceptable and disrespectful.

One of the recommendations of the Ministry of Healthcare in regard to raising people’s awareness, sparked doubts and discontent among several members of the My Step Alliance who declared that this de facto contradicts the law since it proposes to advertise drugs and contains corruption risks. This led to a heated debate between the healthcare minister and Kristine Poghosyan.

The healthcare minister tried to assure the deputies that the parliamentarians’ arguments regarding their concerns are groundless, but he failed, and discontent with the outcome of the discussions, was compelled to leave, refusing the previously proposed point that had sparked the discontent of the parliamentarians. He threatened the parliamentarians with respect to the possible political consequences of their behavior.

Nevertheless, the bill received the positive conclusion of the parliamentary committee.
