The South Korean Prosecutor's Office began searches in the presidential administration in connection with the possible concealment of evidence in the case of bribery of the Busan former vice mayor, TASS reporters referring to Yonhap agency.

The ex-vice mayor could take bribes on an especially large scale from various enterprises, using his position as head of the state financial services committee.

Yonhap notes that the goal of the investigative actions that began on Wednesday is to obtain evidence in his case, which could have been intentionally hidden by the presidential administration.

According to the agency, the prosecutor’s office is investigating the possibility of a number of senior administration officials interfering with the investigation, which is expected to lead to its sudden termination.

The former vice mayor is currently under arrest. The Seoul court issued a warrant on November 27 in connection with the likelihood that the former vice mayor could hide from the investigation and destroy evidence.
