YEREVAN. - Armenian FM Edward Nalbandian met with the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs, Robert Bradtke (USA), Bernard Fassier (France) and Igor Popov (Russia), who arrived in Yerevan as part of their regional visit. Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Ambassador Andrzej Kasprzyk participated in the meeting as well.

The Armenian Foreign Office informed Armenian News-NEWS.am that Minister Nalbandian drew the co-chairs’ attention to Azerbaijan’s actions aimed at the distortion of the report by the co-chairs’ assessment mission conducted last year and using it for justifying its militant rhetoric.

Official Baku’s comments on the report run counter to the co-chairs’ assessments there by challenging their efforts and affecting the negotiation process, Minister Nalbandian said.

The sides also discussed the current stage of the Nagorno-Karabakh peace process, the possibility of creating mechanisms of putting an end to, and investigating, incidents on the contact line, in conformity with the Armenian-Azerbaijani-Russian statement in Sochi.

Armenian News-NEWS.am reminds readers that a field assessment mission was conducted in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone. In their report the international mediators pointed out that the real situation suggested the unacceptability of status quo. The mediators stressed that it is only a peace settlement that is promising for the local population now and in the future.
