Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison apologized for the great anxiety he caused during his vacation amid fire crisis, ABC reported.

"I have returned from leave and I know that [my holiday] has caused some great anxiety in Australia, and Jenny and I acknowledge that," he said.

"If you had your time over again and you had the benefit of hindsight then would have [sic] made different decisions."

The Australian PM noted he knew that Australians were worried about the fires, but insisted that the response of the emergency services in the country was the best in the world.

Morrison also called controversial the claim that the cause of fires in the country could be climate change.

At least nine people have died, over 700 homes have been destroyed, millions of hectares of territories have been burned since the beginning of forest fires in Australia in September of this year.
