Protesters in Baghdad set fire to the fence of the US Embassy condemning air strikes, one of the entrances to the diplomatic mission is on fire, RIA Novosti reports from the scene, Al Jazeera reported.
The diplomatic staff of the US embassy, including the ambassador himself, were evacuated in advance and had already left Iraq.
The wall of the US Embassy is engulfed in fire, and there are young people nearby shouting anti-American slogans and throwing stones at the diplomatic building.
As reported earlier, the US carried out the strikes on Sunday against the Iranian-backed Kataib Hezbollan amid last week's killing of an American contractor in a rocket attack on an Iraqi military base that it blamed on the group.
