UK Ambassador to Iran Robert Macaire was summoned to the Foreign Ministry, IRNA reported.
According to the Iranian MFA, the reason for the detention of the UK ambassador was his participation in a student protest.
The MFA noted that the presence of a foreign ambassador at unauthorized meetings does not match his responsibilities of his country
