YEREVAN. - U.S. President Barack Obama will not use the word “genocide” in his April 24 statement, Armenian MP from Heritage Party Larisa Alaverdyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

She stressed the issue is not on the political agenda of United States. On the contrary, presently the U.S. leadership calls for improvement of relations between Armenia and Turkey. The MP said that the notion of Armenian Genocide recognition is distorted. It is mentioned about recognition of crimes against humanity, perpetrated by a non-existent state.

“We must make Turkey refuse from committing genocide as a tool to achieve their narrow political goals,” she said.

Alaverdyan said that everything is reduced to the problem of Armenian-Turkish relations and is not considered in terms of universal importance.
