The recent rise in food and energy carrier prices may impoverish over 5 million people in Eastern Europe and Central Asia, says the World Bank (WB).
Specifically, with the current unemployment level, the WB forecasts a 11% increase in poverty in Kyrgyzstan, 8% increase in Tajikistan and 9% increase in Armenia and Georgia.
The WB recommends improvement of social security in the countries.
