The Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation has permitted Vladimir Kurdoghlian, who is of Armenian descent, to leave the transit zone and cross the state border after being stranded at Pulkovo Airport, reports Fontanka.ru.

The man was compelled to spend more than a day at the airport. According to the information provided by the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Armenian guest crossed the border checkpoint on the evening of February 4 at around 9:30 p.m. The law-enforcement officers said the reason why Kurdoghlian was stranded at the airport was because the employees of the Migration Department hadn’t added information about the ban on the citizen’s entry into the database of the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation in a timely manner.

Kurdoghlian lives in Saint Petersburg with his family. In 2017, he was subjected to disciplinary liability twice for parking near a pedestrian crossing and crossing the street from the wrong place. Officials of the Ministry of Internal Affairs had set a ban on his entry into the Russian Federation until October 2020, but the decision was annulled by the regional court of Smolninsky. The police had lifted the ban, but due to a mistake made in the joint database of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Federal Security Service, there were data on persons with identical passport data.
