Washington will deploy hypersonic weapons in the Indo-Pacific region over the next few years, said US defense chief Mark Esper.
According to him, maintaining technological superiority is necessary, as opponents undermine the long-standing advantage of the US in conventional warfare.
The Pentagon plans to conduct the first tests of hypersonic weapons this year.
