Turkey has an intention to deploy 1,000 police special forces along the Greek border to stop the outflow of migrants to their territory, said the minister of internal affairs, Suleyman Soylu.

According to him, 164 migrants were injured because of the Greek actions, Reuters reported.

“They wounded 164 people. They tried to push 4,900 people back to Turkey,” Soylu said. “We are deploying 1,000 special force police to the border system... to prevent the push-back.”

Turkey has said it would not impede attempts by migrants and refugees to enter the EU through the border with Greece. The Greek authorities have prevented over 20 thousand attempts to cross the border, since then. The EU urged Turkey to comply with the 2016 agreements, according to which Ankara received billions of euros for the maintenance of migrants.
