YEREVAN. – Yerevan neighborhood “authority” Aram Vardanyan is in Armenia, and his lawyers met with him yesterday. Vardanyan's lawyers Lusine Sahakyan and Yervand Varosyan told about this to reporters today.

Asked exactly where Vardanyan was, one of the lawyers said: “We went to the police station, but he wasn't there. He is in Armenia. We met with him in the evening; there is no problem.”

Attorney Varosyan said that Vardanyan had been summoned to the police several times in the recent past, and had gone there in all cases. "Yesterday's actions do not fit into any logic," he added.

As a result of police actions at Aram Vardanyan's house, his son and two others were apprehended and two more were detained, one of whom is Vardanyan's nephew and the other—a neighbor.

His attorneys say these actions were a search without a court order.

Police told Armenian News-NEWS.am that the police officers had acted within the scope of a criminal case involving Aram Vardanyan, and with the investigative body’s decision to detain the person.

As reported earlier, hundreds of police officers have attacked the houses belonging to Aram Vardanyan and his relatives in Yerevan, today at 2:40am. His lawyers Lusine Sahakyan and Yervand Varosyan have noted this in a statement.

The statement also said that hundreds of police officers surrounded and then illegally entered these houses, during which they also committed robbery.

As per the statement, even the presence of a little child at home did not stop the police from continuing their unlawful actions with the use of weapons, causing serious harm to the child's health.
