Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) has appeared on the democratic map of the world. Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan wrote this on Facebook and posted a respective video.
"When we were sending an organization from Armenia for observation mission in the Artsakh local self-government elections last year, the well-known forces described it as a 'non-national conspiracy,'" he wrote. “But now, as a result, Artsakh has appeared on the democratic map of the world.
This is our perception of national policy."
In the video, it is noted that Freedom House’s “Freedom in the World 2020” report says that Artsakh stands apart from other unrecognized territories of Eurasia. Specifically, it is noted that competition and civil society activism was observed during the local self-government elections in Nagorno-Karabakh last September, and therefore a platform has been created for further changes in the 2020 presidential and parliamentary elections in Artsakh.
