YEREVAN. - An international conference on reduction of natural disaster hazards in Armenia has been opened in Yerevan. Among the participants are the heads of Armenia`s regional administrations, delegations from Japan and Kyrgyzstan, representatives of relevant agencies.

The participants kept one minute`s silence in remembrance of the Japan earthquake victims.

Addressing the conference, Secretary of the Armenian National Security Council Artur Baghdasaryan pointed out earthquake and landslide hazards in Armenia. In this context, he stressed the importance of a strategy that would meet European standards and adoption of international experience.
