Deputy Prime Minister of Armenia Tigran Avinyan today chaired the session of the commission coordinating the activities for prevention of the spread of coronavirus in Armenia.

The Deputy Prime Minister said the following:

“The commission for prevention of the spread of coronavirus has convened another session, and you all know that Armenia recorded three more cases of coronavirus yesterday. Armenia has also isolated 57 people who have had direct contact with the carriers of the virus, and they will be kept under quarantine for the next 14 days.

There will be another flight on Sunday from Italy and will be organized by the Government of Armenia along with Armenia International Airports and an Armenian air carrier. I believe we will also consider the actions that will be required for persons who will be returning to Armenia via that flight. I believe we also have to touch upon the introduction of an institution of certain liability or better understand how we can ensure effectiveness of isolation of persons who stay at home, and we need to discuss this and make decisions today.”

During the session, it was decided that the citizens of Armenia who return from Italy to Armenia on March 15 will stay under quarantine for 14 days.

The Ministry of Healthcare has been assigned to propose, along with the Ministry of Justice, options for holding violators of the isolation regime liable.

The Deputy Prime Minister assigned all government agencies to make preventive medical measures stricter.
