The first female president of Greece, Katerina Sakellaropoulou, is officially sworn in on Friday, almost two months after the country's parliament overwhelmingly voted for her election, AP reported. 

The swearing-in ceremony of Katerina Sakellaropoulou took place in an almost empty parliament as part of measures taken to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus. Only a few lawmakers and a limited number of journalists were present.

PM Kyriakos Mitsotakis nominated Sakellaropoulou as a non-partisan candidate who will receive widespread support from all political forces.
