US President Donald Trump said he talked with physicians and nurses and thanked them for the fight against coronavirus.

“Today I spoke with American physicians and nurses to thank them for their tireless work. Doctors and nurses are at the front lines of this war and are true American HEROES! With their help, America will WIN,” Trump tweeted.

The Trump administration has been criticized in recent weeks for shortcomings in its strategy to fight coronavirus and for a lack of medical supplies, including protective masks for doctors. Earlier, the Pentagon announced that it would give physicians up to 5 million masks from its reserves.

The World Health Organization has already announced the outbreak of the new coronavirus COVID-19 as a pandemic. Over 200 thousand people in about 160 countries are already infected worldwide, more than 8 thousand people have died.
