YEREVAN. - The Armenian Parliament approved the Law on Freedom of Assembly and the Election Code without consensus, Zaruhi Bostanjyan, a member of the Heritage parliamentary group, stated at the group’s meeting with Jaime Mayor Oreja, Vice-Chair of the Group of the European People’s Party, April 27.

The Armenian people are not any more content with the “one step forward” mentioned by international agencies. If things go on like this, conflicts are inevitable during the 2012 and 2013 elections.

The Heritage faction member Anahit Bakhshyan pointed out the importance of the party’s membership in Group of the European People’s Party, which meets the standards for democratic parties.

Mr. Jaime Mayor Oreja stressed that reforms in Armenia must be supported by the public. They are supposed to improve the situation rather than to be a mere simulation.
