YEREVAN. – U.S. Embassy in Armenia dismissed press reports claiming that Ambassador Marie Yovanovitch was acting as a mediator between Armenia’s authorities and the opposition Armenian National Congress (ANC).

“Ambassador Yovanovitch has regular contacts with authorities and representatives of the opposition. She is not acting as a mediator between the authorities and the ANC,” embassy informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.

Earlier Armenian press reported about alleged talks between the authorities and the opposition. Authorities are represented by chairman of Constitutional Court Gagik Harutunyan, while the opposition – by ANC coordinator Levon Zurabyan. Press reports said talks were launched on demand of Ambassador Marie Yovanovitch and continue under her mediation.
