Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Muhammedkali Abilgaziyev has resigned, reports Sputnik-Kyrgyzstan, citing the government’s press service.

Abilgaziyev was elected Prime Minister on April 20, 2018.

“In regard to the allegations fired at the government and regarding the extension and renewal of radiofrequency resources, based on the interests of an objective and comprehensive investigation and to avoid allegations of pressure on investigation bodies, I decided to take a short break.

I have stated and, once again, I would like to emphasize that I have nothing to do with the case, and the allegations against me are groundless. The investigation bodies haven’t addressed me with any questions during my two-week leave. I am certain that the real culprits will be found.

Unfortunately, the inquest is still in progress. During the difficult conditions when the country is fighting against the coronavirus pandemic and the economic consequences, the government has to be sustainable and enjoy the full trust of the citizens. Based on these considerations, I decided to resign,” the text of Abilgaziev’s resignation letter reads.
