France intends to discuss with NATO allies Turkey’s intervention in Libya, which impedes ceasefire efforts.

Turkish media reported last week that Turkey plans to use two Libyan military bases for a longer-term presence in the North African country.

In a statement on Monday, the German ministry said that “foreign interference, in particular the intensification of Turkish support” was impeding efforts to secure a ceasefire. 

“These interferences are becoming very problematic and, despite our efforts, the situation is getting bogged down. This increasingly aggressive posture is not acceptable,” Reuters reported referring to the presidential official. 

“Turkey is supposed to be a NATO partner, so this cannot continue.”

NATO defense ministers were due to negotiate on Wednesday and Thursday.
