We offer to make amendments to the “Rules of Procedure of the National Assembly” law, the Law on the Constitutional Court and the Judicial Code. This is what co-author of the bill, deputy of the My Step faction of the National Assembly of Armenia Vahagn Hovakimyan declared during the session of the Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs of the National Assembly today.

By this amendment approved by the Committee, the bill on amendment to the Constitution won’t be forwarded to President Armen Sarkissian and will be deemed to be adopted and will enter into force upon adoption by the Parliament in the second reading.

The National Assembly will consider this amendment during the special session soon.

The bill enshrines the following provision: “The elections of candidates for two or more vacancies for judges of the Constitutional Court may be held simultaneously, under the procedure provided for by the article.” Thus, in case of adoption of the bill, judges Hrant Nazaryan, Felix Tokhyan and Alvina Gyulumyan will be dismissed, and new judges will be elected in one day.

After discussions, the Committee approved the given bill.
