President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has slammed the country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Minister Elmar Mammadyarov.

“During escalation of the situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border on July 12, all the top officials of the country were in their offices, except for the foreign affairs minister. I couldn’t find him. He wasn’t in his office,” Ilham Aliyev said during a government session today.

Aliyev expressed discontent with Mammadyarov’s behavior, blamed him for being irresponsible and asked the Prime Minister to inform him about his conversation with Mammadyarov.

Prime Minister Ali Asadov said Mammadyarov was at home at 3 p.m. The Prime Minister had asked him why he was home and told him he had to be in his office to complete the President’s assignments.

Afterwards, Aliyev expressed discontent with the fact that Minister Mammadyarov had discussed with the Armenian side issues on cooperation in the fight against the coronavirus and asked what cooperation could there be with Armenia.
