Georgian FM David Zalkaliani called on Armenia and Azerbaijan to return to the situation that existed before July 14, before the start of hostilities, Georgian Public TV reported.

"I am in close communication with my fellow ministers. I had phone talks with both ministers and expressed our sincere attitude and concern about the situation. They know our position - we are in no way interested in a further escalation of the situation, on the contrary, it is necessary that the sides return to the situation that existed before July 14, before the start of hostilities," he noted.

According to Zalkaliani, one should take into account the fact that for the first time the conflict went beyond the geography of Nagorno-Karabakh and is currently located on the territory in the immediate vicinity of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border.

“Therefore, even more prudence and caution are required. More active involvement of the international community in this process is necessary, and first, the activation of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs and the involvement of all those international mechanisms that are the basis and foundation of the settlement of this conflict," he noted.

"International negotiations and mechanisms should be given the opportunity to lead the process towards de-escalation and a peace agreement," Zalkaliani said.
