Poland intends to withdraw from the Istanbul Convention.
The Ministry of Justice will make an official request to the Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Policy to start the relevant process, said the Minister of Justice of Poland Zbigniew Ziobro.
According to him, the Istanbul Convention contains harmful ideological provisions, Radio Poland reported.
The Istanbul Convention is an international agreement of the Council of Europe against violence against women and domestic violence. Poland's intention to withdraw from the agreement has already been criticized by the Council of Europe. The organization's press secretary, Marija Peichinovic-Buric, called this step very regrettable.
