Acting Minister of Health of Lebanon Hamad Hasan told Radio Voice of Lebanon that Lebanon needs to declare a two-week lockdown due to the rise in the number of coronavirus cases.

The Ministry of Health on Monday reported a record-setting rise in the number of coronavirus cases (456 new cases and 2 deaths)

Lebanon, which was already in a deep financial crisis, was fighting against COVID-19 before the August 4 explosion in Beirut. The blast damaged several hospitals. Last week, the World Health Organization (WHO) reported that nearly half of the 55 healthcare centers in Beirut are not operating.

In an interview with Reuters, Hasan said the authorities still haven’t closed the country’s airport since most of the coronavirus cases are reported in the country.
