Norway has decided to expel the Russian diplomat following the recent detention in Oslo of a Norwegian citizen suspected of spying, DW reported referring to the Norwegian Foreign Ministry.

Two days earlier, Norwegian police reported the arrest of a Norwegian citizen suspected of illegally transmitting information to a Russian diplomat, presumably a Russian intelligence officer.

The unnamed diplomat worked in the trade department of the Russian embassy in Oslo, he was engaged in activities incompatible with his role and diplomatic status, said a spokesman for the Norwegian Foreign Ministry. He must leave the country within 72 hours.

According to international consultancy DNV GL, the Norwegian suspect worked in its oil and gas division and specialized in 3D printing technology.
