YEREVAN. – President of European Parliament Jerzy Buzek said he held open discussions regarding the March 1 events with President Serzh Sargsyan and Parliament Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan.
Speaking at a press conference in Yerevan the European official labeled the March 1 issue as “an open wound” for Armenia stressing it must be solved.
“During the meetings Armenian officials assured me the investigation is underway and they would do their utmost to uncover the events. They also promised the process will be fair,” he said.
The European official recalled that last December President Sargsyan promised significant changes in the country.
“Let’s believe it will be so. In this regard, you’re on the right track,” he added.
At the same time he stressed that Armenian people, the authorities themselves, should choose their way. “Europe can not press on you on the matter. But we can help sharing our experience,” Buzek concluded.
