It will be possible to cope with the COVID-19 pandemic in less than two years, WHO Director-General Dr. Tedros Ghebreyesus told a briefing in Geneva.

He compared the current SARS-CoV-2 pandemic to the Spanish flu pandemic that left from 50 to 100 million people dead in 1918-1920.

“Our situation now with more technology, of course with more [connectivity] ... the virus has a better chance of spreading, it can move fast,” The Independent reported quoting Mr Tedros as saying. “At the same time we have the technology and knowledge to stop it.”
