Belarus' opposition politician Svetlana Tikhanovskaya will meet US deputy secretary of state Stephen Biegun, Reuters reported.

According to Tikhanovskaya's team, the meeting will take place in Lithuania on Monday.

Belarus held presidential elections on August 9. After announcing first results - according to which, the incumbent president Aleksandr Lukashenko has gained almost 80 % of votes - people took to the streets to protest the elections.

At least two protesters have died and thousands have been detained during the protests, many emerging to complain of beatings and abuse.
