Participants of the demonstration for solidarity gathered at Independence Square on Sunday. Independence Avenue was closed, and demonstrators had occupied not only the square, but also the avenue, Sputnik-Belarus reports.
Later, the participants of the march headed toward the “City-Hero Minsk” monument where they were joined by representatives of the joint headquarters of Maria Kolesnikova, Sergey Dilevsky and others.
The representatives of the headquarters escorted the demonstrators to the monument, which was surrounded by power structures and barbed wires.
The coordinating council asked the participants of the demonstration to leave the premises and move to the other side of the avenue, and volunteers formed a chain to not let anyone approach the monument and be in confrontation.
