The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation has issued a press release stating that Alexei Navalny’s poisoning isn’t in the Russian leadership’s favor. The press release comes after the meeting of Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergey Lavrov and US First Deputy Secretary of State Steven Bigan.
“Bigan raised Alexei Navalny’s issue. Viewing the case as ‘an incident’, the American side stressed that ‘if the version of him being poisoned as an opposition figure is confirmed, Washington will take measures, on the backdrop of which the American public’s response to Russia’s intervention in the 2016 US presidential elections will be obscured’.
I drew my interlocutor’s attention to the inadmissibility of groundless allegations, and we emphasized that the Russian leadership supports a more thorough and objective investigation into the incident,” Lavrov said.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation recalled that all the data regarding the history of Navalny’s disease have been transmitted to the brigade of German doctors who have arrived in Omsk to transfer Navalny to Charite Clinic in Berlin.
