Armenia doesn’t consider having its own communications satellite appropriate in this stage. Hakob Arshakyan, the Minister of High Technological Industry of Armenia, stated about this Wednesday while presenting the activity report on the high-tech industry of the country.

According to him, the Television and Radio Broadcasting Network of Armenia CJSC currently leases satellite channels and ensures broadcasting across the country. Taking into consideration the realities in Armenia, the government doesn’t consider having a communications satellite appropriate in this stage since the government will need $100-150,000,000 to obtain a communications satellite, and that’s just the beginning.

“There have been offers for other companies to use the opportunity provided to Armenia under the condition that the communications satellites are used jointly,” the minister declared and didn’t rule out the possibility of a solution to the issue.
