German Minister of Foreign Affairs Heiko Maas is exerting more pressure on Russia in regard to the alleged poisoning of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny. “We expect Russia to be more active in helping investigate the case of Navalny,” he said in his speech at the forum of European ambassadors in Paris, DW reports.

Maas said the European Union and Russia are currently on bad terms, yet added that the EU needs to establish constructive ties with Moscow. “Europe won’t become safer without Russia or against it,” he said.
