Deputy Minister of Defense of Azerbaijan, Lieutenant-General Kerim Veliyev today had a meeting with First Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation Ruslan Tsalikov, who is on a working visit to Azerbaijan.
As reported APA, the parties discussed the bilateral military and military-technical cooperation and underscored the importance of further strengthening of the cooperation.
The worst traditions are being continued…This time, the press service of the Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan distorted the Russian official’s statement, and it is hard to verify the authenticity of the statement. The distorted statement reads as follows: “Touching upon the military-political situation, Veliyev stated that the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict remains a serious threat to stability in the region. It is important to settle the conflict on the basis of the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan and the principles of international law.” The distortion particularly concerns the words “Armenian-Azerbaijani” and “settle the conflict on the basis of the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan”. The Russian deputy defense minister couldn’t have allowed himself to make such a non-diplomatic statement.
Of course, it is normal for Azerbaijan to distort the form and meaning of statements. Just recently, the President of Serbia became a victim of such policy.
