YEREVAN. – In the last 20 days, we are having less than 200 new cases of the coronavirus on a daily basis. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced this Thursday at the Cabinet session of the government of Armenia.

"This, in general, is an improvement. But we have another indicator of improvement: The number of active cases has significantly decreased; we have less than 3,000 active cases at the moment. It is also important to note that the number of daily tests is unprecedentedly high. The percentage of positive cases is low, which is considered to be a high degree of detection. We are now around 5 to 8 percent, which is internationally considered a high detection rate. This is very important because if people know they are infected with the coronavirus, it inevitably affects their behavior; in this regard, I believe we continue to improve. [But] our biggest risk of breaking this positive dynamic in the near future is the [re]opening of schools. In this regard, decisions have been made that are clearly not taken unequivocally by the public. We are obligated to take steps to prevent a return to a new epidemiological crisis," Pashinyan said.

"Our goal is to gradually get out of this regime of restrictions. We will make the appropriate decisions so that our children can breathe fully as soon as possible," he added.
