Foreign Ministers of Bahrain and Israel Abdullatif Al-Zayani and Gabi Ashkenazi held a phone talk on Saturday, Reuters reported, citing the Bahrain Foreign Ministry.

The ministers highlighted the need to develop relations to ensure peace and stability in the region.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump said that Bahrain agreed to normalize relations with Israel.

Trump wrote about it after speaking on the phone with the King of Bahrain, Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the White House said.

In a joint statement, the three leaders said they agreed to establish full diplomatic relations between Israel and the Kingdom of Bahrain.
