It is necessary to develop verification mechanisms to oversee observance of the ceasefire regime. This is what Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Zohrab Mnatsakanyan said during a joint press conference with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Lavrov in Moscow today.

In response to a question about those mechanisms, the Armenian foreign minister preferred to refrain from providing details in this phase since consultations are in progress and recalled that, as follows from the tripartite statement adopted in Moscow this past week, the first step is the cessation of hostiltiies.

Commenting on the allegations addressed to Armenia and Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh), the minister recalled that the Armenian side is demanding the introduction of verification mechanisms, while the Azerbaijani side is renouncing those mechanisms.
