Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Andrey Rudenko and EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the Crisis in Georgia Toivo Klaar have discussed the situation surrounding Nagorno-Karabakh.

According to the press service of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the interlocutors exchanged views on the escalation of the situation in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone.

Expressing concern over the ongoing hostilities in the conflict zone and the rise in the number of victims, the parties affirmed the importance of the implementation of all the provisions stated in the statement adopted in Moscow, including, first and foremost, maintenance of the ceasefire, as well as the introduction of verification mechanisms and the intensification of substantive negotiations within the scope of the efforts of the Co-Chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group.
