YEREVAN. - There is a great potential for improvement of bilateral cooperation between Armenia and the U.S., Speaker of the Armenian National Assembly Hovik Abrahayman stated at the meeting with outgoing U.S. Ambassador to Armenia Marie L. Yovanovitch.

In this regard, Abrahamyan attached significance to intensification of inter-parliamentary ties.

Abrahamyan stressed that the relations between Washington and Yerevan deepened in his capacity as an Armenian Speaker, the press service of Armenian parliament informed Armenian News-NEWS.am. He stressed that many programs were implemented which contributed to Armenia’s legislation conforming to international standards.

In her turn, Yovanovitch gave high importance to further cooperation between the two states. She also made a high appraisal of open discussions in the Armenian National Assembly within the recent years.

The sides also touched upon issues of common interest.

The Armenian speaker wished Yovanovitch success in her further activities and expressed confidence she will remain Armenia’s friend.
